Cell Biolabs Inc 4-hydroxy-2-nonenal (4-hne
Effects of the artificial cerebrospinal fluid (aCSF) or ouabain (OUA, a Na+/K+-ATPase inhibitor) intracerebroventricular infusion on the <t>4-hydroxy-2-nonenal</t> (4-HNE, a, b) and carbonyl (c, d) contents, as well as on the glutathione peroxidase (GPx, e, f) and glutathione reductase (GR, g, h) activities in rat frontal cortex and hippocampus, 14 days after the recovery period following the stereotaxic surgery (n = 7, per experimental group). Effects of the intraperitoneal administration of the antidepressant drug imipramine (IMI) or saline (Sal, NaCl 0.9%) were also evaluated in this context, aiming to develop an animal model of mania switch. Data were analysed by two-way analysis of variance followed by Tukey’s test when F was significant. Values are expressed as μg/mL protein (4-HNE), nmol/mL (carbonyl) or nmol min−1 mL−1 (GPx and GR) (mean ± standard error of mean). *p < 0.05, as compared to aCSF + Sal group. #p < 0.05, as compared to OUA + Sal group.
